Click on the "Start" button in the main operating system menu. Then, select "Run" from the start menu, and type "CMD", in the run dialog box.

Type "Net users" in the command prompt window that will appear after Step 1. This command shows all users that have an account on that specific computer.

Ascertain the name on the Windows login account that you are changing the password on. The "Net user" command from step two will list all of the accounts registered on the computer. Locate the name on the account from that list.

Enter the "Net user" command plus the name of the account followed by an asterisk. The command should look something like this: Net user "John Stevens *." If the account name contains spaces, put the name inside of quotes in the next step--if not, then the spaces are not necessary.

Change the password for the account in the response command line that should ask the user for a new password. Remember to make the password something easy to remember, but not so easy it could be guessed. The user should receive a response that the password change was successful.
