သူ၏ သေဘၤာမွာ ထိုသူတို႔ႏွင့္ ၂၅ မိုင္အကြာအေဝးတြင္ တည္ရွိေနရာ၊ သူတို႔ႏွင့္ နီးေသာ သူမ်ားတြင္ အပါအဝင္ ျဖစ္သည္။ ထိုသူတို႔ သြားေရာက္ကယ္ဆယ္ရန္ သူထြက္ခြာခဲ့သည္။ ေပ ၁၀၀ ရွည္ေသာ ဝန္ေဆာင္မႈ ေရယာဥ္ ခရစ္ဇယ္လ္ ခလီးယား (Crystal Clear) ေပၚရွိ ဝန္ထမ္း ၄ ေယာက္တြင္ တစ္ဦးျဖစ္ေသာ မာလိန္မွဴးေရွာ (Captain Shaw) အသက္ ၅၉ ႏွစ္ က တစ္ေယာက္မွ အဆံုးအ႐ႈံး မရွိေစရန္ ထိုသူတို႔ထံ အျမန္ေရာက္လိုေၾကာင္း ေျပာသည္။

ခရစ္တတယ္လ္စလီးယား(Crystal Clear) သည္ နံနက္ ၁၁ နာရီခန္႔တြင္ ထိုသူတို႔ ရွိရာသို႔ေရာက္ခဲ့သည္။ ထိုအခ်ိန္တြင္ ထိုသူတို႔မွာ မီးေလာင္ေနဆဲ ျဖစ္ေသာ ေရနံတူးစင္မွ တစ္မိုင္အကြာသို႔ ေမ်ာပါသြားၾကၿပီး ျဖစ္သည္။ ထိုသူတို႔မွာ အေအးဒဏ္မွ ကာကြယ္ရန္ ေရငုတ္သမားမ်ားဝတ္သည့္ ဝတ္စံုကဲ့သို႔ေသာ (wet suit) မ်ား ဝတ္ဆင္ထားၿပီး အသက္ကယ္ ဝတ္စံု (life jacket) ကိုလည္း ဝတ္ဆင္ထားသည္။

လူခ်င္းကြဲမသြားေစရန္ လက္မ်ားလည္း ခ်ိတ္ထားၾကသည္။ လူဝီစီးယားနားျပည္နယ္ (Louisiana) ၏ ကမ္းေျခမွ မိုင္ ၈၀ အကြာ ေရျပင္မွာ အပူခ်ိန္ ၉၆ ဒီဂရီ ဖာရင္ဟိုက္ရွိရာ အေအး ဒဏ္ထက္ ပို၍ စိုးရိမ္ရသည္မွာ အားေကာင္းေသာ ဒီလႈိင္းႏွင့္ မီးေလာင္ေနေသာ ေရနံတူးေမွ်ာ္စင္တို႔ ျဖစ္သည္ဟု ကမ္းေျခေစာင့္တပ္ (Coast Guard) မွ ေျပာသည္။ ကယ္ဆယ္ေရး စတင္ၿပီး မၾကာမီတြင္ ကမ္းေျခေစာင့္တပ္လည္း ေရာက္ရွိလာခဲ့ၿပီးေနာက္ ရဟတ္ယာဥ္ အကူအညီေပးခဲ့သည္။

ေရအပူခ်ိန္မွာ ၈၆ ဒီ၈ရီ ဖာရင္ဟိုက္ရွိသျဖင့္ ေရခ်ဳိးသည့္ ေရႏွင့္ အတူတူ နီးပါး ျဖစ္သည္ဟု ကမ္းေျခေစာင့္တပ္ (Coast Guard) ၏ ေျပာေရးဆုိခြင့္ရွိသူ အမ်ိဳးသမီး အယ္လိဇဘက္သ္ ေဗာဒလြန္ (Elizabeth Bordelon) က ေျပာသည္။

ခရစ္စတယ္လ္ ခလီးယား (Crystal Clear) ေရယာဥ္သည္ ဆယ္ယူခဲ့ေသာ လူ ၁၃ ေယာက္အား အနီးရွိ ေရနံတူးစင္တစ္ခုသို႔ ပို႔ေပးခဲ့ရာ ၎မွတစ္ဆင့္ လူဝီစီယားနား (Louisiana) ျပည္နယ္ (Houma) သို႔ ရဟတ္ယာဥ္ျဖင့္ သယ္ေဆာင္ခဲ့သည္။ ဒဏ္ရာ အနည္းရသူ တစ္ဦးရွိသည္ဆိုသည့္ သတင္းႏွင့္ ဒဏ္ရာရသူမရွိဆိုသည့္ သတင္းႏွစ္မ်ိဳးမွာ ကမ္းေစာင့္တပ္ (Coast Guard) ႏွင့္ အျခားမ်က္ျမင္သက္ေသမ်ားၾကားတြင္ ကြဲလြဲေနသည္။

ယခု အျဖစ္အပ်က္တြင္ မီးေလာင္ေသာ ေရနံတူးစင္အား စြန္႔ခြာျခင္းႏွင့္ ယခု ကယ္ဆယ္ေရး လုပ္ငန္းမွာ ေခ်ာမြတ္စြာ ၿပီးစီးသြားသျဖင့္ ဧၿပီလတြင္ မကၠဆီကို ပင္လယ္ေကြ႕တြင္ ေရနံယိုစိမ့္မႈ ျဖစ္ေသာ Deepwater Horizon မွ အျဖစ္အပ်က္ႏွင့္ ႏႈိင္းယွဥ္စရာ ျဖစ္ေနသည္။ Deepwater Horizon တြင္ အသက္ကယ္ ေဖာင္မ်ားရွိ ႀကိဳးမ်ား ႐ႈပ္ေနရာ ထိတ္လန္႔တၾကား ျဖစ္ေနေသာ ဝန္ထမ္းမ်ားမွာ ေဖာင္မ်ားအား ျဖတ္ထုတ္ရန္ ဒါးရွာမရ ျဖစ္ေနသည္ဟု သက္ေသမ်ားက ေျပာၾကသည္။

ၾကာသပေတးေန႔ မီးေလာင္မႈ ျဖစ္ပြားသည့္ ကိစၥတြင္ိမူ ဝန္ထမ္းမ်ားသည္ ထိတ္လန္႔သြားခဲ့ပံု ရေသာ္လည္း အေရးေပၚ လုပ္ေဆာင္ခ်က္မ်ားအား ေကာင္းစြာ လုပ္ေဆာင္ႏုိင္ခဲ့သည္ဟူ မာလိန္မွဴးေရွာ (Captain Shaw) က ေျပာသည္။ သူက ျဖည့္စြက္ေျပာၾကားရာတြင္ ထိုသူမ်ားသည္ ေအးေဆးတည္ၿငိမ္စြာ ရွိခဲ့သည္။ မည္သူမွ် ထိတ္လန္႔တၾကားမရွိခဲ့ၾကေပ။

နယူးေအာ္လီးန္စ္-မကၠဆီကို ပင္လယ္ေကြ႕ရွိ ေရနံတူးစင္တစ္ခု ၾကာသပေတးေန႔တြင္ မီးေလာင္မႈ ျဖစ္ပြားရာ ဝန္ထမ္း ၁၃ ဦးမွာ စင္အား စြန္႔ခြာၿပီး ပင္လယ္တြင္းသို႔ ဆင္းၿပီး တိမ္းေရွာင္ခဲ့ရသည္။ ယခင္က Deepwater Horizon ေရနံတူးစင္မွ ေရနံယိုဖိတ္မႈ ဒဏ္မွ ျပန္လည္နာလံထူခါစ ကမ္းေျခတစ္ဝိုက္တြင္ စိတ္ပူပင္ေသာကမ်ား ေပၚေပါက္ခဲ့ရသည္။

Panic Kept at Bay in Smooth Rescue Mission

In his 20 years as a boat captain, Dan Shaw had never tried to rescue an entire crew out of the water. But on Thursday, he received a radio alert that 13 workers from an oil platform that caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico were bobbing in choppy, fast-flowing waters not far from the flames.

His boat was 25 miles away, one of the nearest to the scene of the emergency, and he volunteered to find the floating workers.

"We wanted to get to them as fast as we could and make sure we didn't lose anybody," said Captain Shaw, 59, one of four workers aboard a 100-foot service vessel, the Crystal Clear.

By the time he arrived around 11 a.m., he said, the men had been floating for two hours and had been swept a mile from the still-flaming platform.

They were wearing protective wet suits and life jackets and linking arms. The Coast Guard said that fortunately the surface temperature was 86 degrees, about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast. The temperature of the ocean water was less of a safety concern than the strong tides and the fire on the platform, according to the Coast Guard, which arrived shortly after the rescue began and provided emergency helicopters for the evacuation.

"It's 86 degrees, pretty much like bath water," said Elizabeth Bordelon, a spokeswoman for the Coast Guard.

The men were pulled into the Crystal Clear, then transported to a nearby oil rig and flown by helicopter to a hospital in Houma, La. There were conflicting reports from the Coast Guard and witnesses about whether one worker or none had been slightly injured.

The apparently smooth rescue provided a stark contrast to the evacuation of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in April, which set off the oil spill in the gulf. In that disaster, witnesses have testified, life rafts became tangled and panicked workers could not find knives to cut themselves free.

After Thursday's fire, Captain Shaw said, the workers appeared a bit shaken and unnerved, but were following emergency procedures.

"They all were remaining calm," he said. "Nobody looked panic stricken."

He added: "It could have been a more dangerous situation. It turned out the best it could for these guys."

Oil field workers are trained for this type of rescue. "This isn't something that happens every day," he said. "But everyone out here trains for this just in case."
